Breath Of Light
An Anamnesis site specific ceremonial performance created for the Temple of Apollo in Ancient Corinth, Greece.
In 28 & 29 July 2026, Breath of Light / Πνοή Φωτός, a site-specific, immersive performance, was presented at the Sanctuary of Apollo in Ancient Corinth, as part of the Greek Ministry of Culture’s programme “All of Greece, One Culture 2026”. Conceived as a contemporary encounter with the sacred landscape of Apollo, the performance brought together music, movement, original text and live interpretation, exploring the Apollonian principles of light, music and harmony, while creating a dialogue between the ancient site, memory and the present.
Conceived as a contemporary encounter with the sacred landscape of Apollo, the performance brought together music, movement, original text and live interpretation, exploring the Apollonian principles of light, music and harmony, while creating a dialogue between the ancient site, memory and the present.
The project was created under the artistic direction, direction and choreography of Apostolia Papadamaki, with music by Tryfon Koutsourelis and dramaturgy, original text and lyrics by Panos Gkiokas. The leading performers were Lydia Koniordou and Maria Papageorgiou, joined by a wider ensemble and the Children’s Choir of the Madrigali Music School of Corinth, conducted by Falia Papagiannopoulou.
As part of the project’s holistic approach, The Botanical Project was invited to undertake the natural dyeing of the costumes worn by Lydia Koniordou and Maria Papageorgiou, bringing the materiality of plants and natural colour into dialogue with the body, the performance and the ancient landscape. The costumes were created by Greek Archaic Kori, with their natural dyeing undertaken by The Botanical Project – Theodora Androni.
For Lydia Koniordou’s costume, we worked with acacia extract sourced from Latin America, while Maria Papageorgiou’s costume was naturally dyed using onion skins and marigolds. Through these botanical materials, colour became more than an aesthetic element: it became part of the narrative itself, reinforcing the connection between nature, body, place and memory.
A heartfelt thank you to Apostolia Papadamaki for choosing me and The Botanical Project to be part of such an exceptional project. It was a true privilege to contribute to an artistic experience that brought together nature, movement, music, memory and cultural heritage in such a meaningful way. I am deeply grateful for her trust and for the opportunity to become part of this beautiful creative journey, and I wish her every success as she continues her inspiring artistic work.
